Once upon a time there was beautiful weather in Iceland, so Doni, Johanna, Johanna, Hanna and me rented a car (well, the first two lads did that) and drove to Hveragerði. We walked 3km into Reykjadalur and - what else would you do on a sunny day - took a bath in a warm river. Sun shining bright, snow on the peaks of the mountains and we, sitting in this river trying to tell us that well, it's not a
hot river, but at least quite warm. Some of us were extra-adventurous and jumped out of the water several times to jump in on another point and smile mischieveous about the fact that
now it seems to be a lot warmer. But, as nice at is is, every fun needs to come to an end, so we got out on the freeezing cold ground, trying to put our clothes on as fast as possible and hiked back to the car. Such a beautiful hike, such a beautiful area. Jumping over small rivers, climbing a huge rock, we really are bad-ass hikers... (I know, at some point in my life I should really consider buying hiking boots. my clarks are going to die in Iceland...)
Having coffee in a small sweet coffee-shop in Hveragerði and Doni buying volcano bread and cutting off her jeans we were ready to continue our journey. Hitting the road again we went westwards along the coast of the Reykjanesskagi (Reykjanes-peninsula). Stopped at Gunnuhver, a geothermal field quite clos to Grindavík and Reykjanestá. Fascinating, everytime I see these geothermal things I have to imagine that the earth is heavily breathing. After taking a walk around that wooden path through Gunnuhver we went on to Reykjanestá. Beautiful cliffs, screaming birds, wonderful late-afternoon-sky. Climbing on stones and rocks felt like having discovered worlds best playground. Listening to the sound of the breaking waves. Doing expression dance on a cliff and lying in grass soaking up the fresh air and bits of sun. Could I ever be happier?
To show off I took loads of pictures of course, so enjoy
